History
The St. Luke's Eye Hospital was started by the Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1991 with the mission to provide good quality eye care to the Community of Virudhunagar district. The Christoffel - Blinden Mission (CBM), Germany, GERMAN LIONS and the BMZ Germany, for various aspects have supported this hospital.
City Center
To make the eye care services accessible to city population, a city center was established near the old bus stand. The center provides eye checkup, optical shop and referral for diseases needing specialty care.
